ASUP STRIKE: Shekarau pleads with polytechnic lecturers to end protest

ASUP STRIKE NEWS – The Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has pleaded with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP to call off its strike while the issues that led to the strike would be resolved amicably.
Mallam Shekarau made the appeal when the National Leadership of the Union visited him in Abuja.

The Minister described Polytechnic education as the engine room for technological development, adding that prompt action was required to rescue the system.

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Mr. Chibuzo Asomugha said their visit was to intimate the Minister on the lingering problems of Polytechnic education in the country.

Mr. Asomugha said the National Executive Council of the Union would meet to take a decision on the request by the Minister to call off the strike that has lasted for over ten months.
