FIFA December Rankings | 10 Most Ranked African Teams

FIFA has released its monthly country rankings for December. The rankings are released monthly and usually on Thursdays. In this December rankings, Argentina maintained its first position in the world. Senegal remains the number one ranked team in Africa. Euro 2016 Winners Portugal, has to settle for 8th position. In the rankings, a points system is used, with points being awarded based on the results of all FIFA-recognised full international matches. Under the existing system, rankings are based on a team’s performance over the last four years, with more recent results and more significant matches being more heavily weighted to help reflect the current competitive state of a team.

The top 10 is led by Argentina. Former world and Europeans Champions, Spain completes the Top 10. France who were Euro 2016 hosts and runner-up is ranked 7th position.

Top 10 African teams

In the African segment, Senegal is the continent’s number one. They however is world’s number 33. African Champions, Ivory coast are second in the Africa. The giant of African, Nigeria is comfortably placed in 51 position global while being the 8th best team in Africa.
