Finally, the 2019 AFCON draw has been released. There were 24 countries that qualified for the 2019 African Cup of Nations. This tournament is hosted by Egypt and will be played between June & July. The draws officially conducted in the shadow of the Pyramids of Giza, Cairo on Friday. There are some enticing draws to go with it.
As hosts, Egypt are in Group A. They will be facing challenge from the likes of DR Congo, Uganda & Zimbabwe. In every competition, there is always the famed Group of Death. Group D is that group. The group is filled with Morocco, Cote D’Ivoire, South Africa & Namibia.

2019 AFCON Host & Dates
The tournament will be host by Egypt, the Nations Cup will take place from 21 June to 29 July. This indicates that all African-Europe base player will not miss their club matches. Usually, the AFCON takes place during January. But, lots of European clubs and players complained about having to lose their players to the competition during this period. As a result, it has now been shifted to JUNE/JULY to mirror the European counterparts.

The hosts, Egypt, pitted in Group A before the draw, have been handed a tough assignment, and will open the tournament against Zimbabwe, before meetings with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The Cranes qualified for their first Afcon tournament in almost four decades two years ago, where they were defeated by Egypt in Gabon.
Holders Cameroon will meet Ghana in a replay of the 2017 semi-final, with Benin and Guinea-Bissau completing Group F. Nigeria should be relatively happier with their opponents, with debutants Burundi and Madagascar joining them and Guinea in Group B.
In Group C, Senegal and Algeria are strong favourites to progress after being drawn against East African rivals Tanzania and Kenya, neither of whom can be taken for granted after impressive qualifying campaigns. Angola and Mauritania have their work cut out after being drawn against Mali and Tunisia in Group E, although they will be buoyed by the fact that four of the six best placed third-placed teams will progress.
