What is SMEDAN?
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) was established in 2003, to facilitate the promotion and development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in an efficient and sustainable way.

Steps to Register your business with SMEDAN
- Visit the main website – www.smedanregister.ng
- Fill in your personal and business information.
Stage 1: This is the first stage of the registration, you are expected to provide your business name, phone number, email address and login password.
Stage 2: This part is where you fill in full detail of the business you’re registering, which includes; Year of business commencement, Business address, State/LGA, Business premises, Business Website (if any), Business type, Main Product or Service, If the business is already registered with CAC (enter CAC No. if yes), Category of business by Annual turnover, and Employment category.
Stage 3: Business Owner (Who owns this business), where you’re expected to fill your Position in the business, Gender, Age, Phone number, email address, and BVN (optional). There is also an option to add another partner’s information – just in case this business is not only owned or managed by you.
Step 4: Business Description, this is where you describe what exactly your business does by selecting your Business industry, specific business area, and a brief note to explain the business.
- Then click on “Submit”. Wait a little while for the system to confirm that there isn’t error, then generate and send your SMEDAN Certificate instantly to your email address (in PDF formart).
- Now, login to your email, open the message sent by SMEDAN, and click on the link to preview/open your SMEDAN Certificate.
From here, you can further go and print it, or send, or upload to any portal that requests your registered business certificate.
