There have been days when I opened web pages to read and find the contents so important that i would love to read them later. By then, I never knew it was possible to save web pages for offline viewing. I struggled. But, I later found out I could save the pages offline and always view them whenever i want without using data. Imagine my joy when i found out. In this guide, we will show you exactly how to save web pages for offline reading on Google chrome.

Saving web pages for offline access is very important. For one, it allows you not to open different web pages at the same time and clustering your working space. You could always close the necessary ones and come back to them later. You could also save very important pages offline for future references. You don’t have to struggle to remember the title or website before accessing them. All you need to do is simply to go back to the place you saved it and access it.

Furthermore, it saves data. Even if you were to remember the title name and the website, you will need data to always access them. But, what if you do not have data? or you were in an airplane mode where data connection is prohibited? Or even somewhere else without an Internet connection? What can you do in those times?

How To Save Web Pages For offline Reading On Google Chrome

Below are the guides you will need.

On Computer

If you were to use a computer, this is your guideline.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a page you want to save.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then More Tools and then Save page as.
  4. Choose where you want to save the page.
  5. Click Save.

To read a saved page, open the file on your computer. It will open in your default browser, like Chrome or Safari.

On Android

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Go to a page you want to save.
  3. To the right of the address bar, tap More More and then Download Download.

Read, delete, or share a saved page

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More More and then Downloads.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. Tap Downloads Download.
  3. From your downloads list, find the page you saved.
    • Read: Tap the page.
    • Delete: Touch and hold the page. At the top right, tap Delete Delete.
    • Share: Touch and hold the page. At the top right, tap Share Share.

When you’re back online, see the live version of the page by tapping Reload Reload.

On iPhone & iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Go to a page you want to save.
  3. At the top right, tap Share Share.
  4. Tap Read later Read later.

Save a page from another app

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the app.
  2. Go to a page you want to save.
  3. At the top right, tap Share Share.
  4. If you haven’t already, add Chrome to your Share list:
    1. In the list of apps, scroll to the end and tap More.
    2. Switch Chrome on On.
    3. Tap Done.
  5. Find and tap Chrome.
  6. Tap Read later.

Read a saved page in your Reading List

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the bottom right, tap More More and then Reading ListReading list.
  3. Tap the page you want to read.

When you’re back online, the live version of the page will load. If you don’t see the live version, reload the page.

Delete a saved page from your Reading List

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the bottom right, tap MoreMore and then Reading ListReading list.
  3. Swipe left on the page you want to delete and then tap Delete.
