The Nigeria Coat of Arm is the image you see at the top of this page. Here are the features of the Nigeria Coat of Arm. The Coat of Arm of Nigeria was adopted on 20th May 1960.

As you can see the black sheild with two white lines that forms in a “Y” shape. The black shield represents Nigerian’s Fertile soil, While the two Horses on each side represents dignity. The green and white bands on top of the shield represents the rich soil, while the Eagle represents Strength.

The red flowers at the base are Coctus Spectabilis which is Nigerian National Flower. the Flower was added to the Nigerian coat of Arm becasue it was found all over Nigeria. On the band around the base(which may not be seen clearly due to fragmentation of the Image) is the Nigerian’s National Motto: Unity and Peace, Peace and Progress formerly called Peace, Unity and Freedom.
