As of yesterday, a 39-year-old unemployed man by name Michael Oloniluyi, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
The defendant, who was arraigned before Magistrate A. O. Akinde, right now is facing a count charge of impersonation preferred against him by the police.
The defendant, who resides at Fire of Faith Church, Odogbolu Street in Ketu area of the state, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on March 27.
He said that the incident took place opposite Motorway Centre along Ibadan/ Lagos Expressway in Ojota area of the state.
The prosecutor, said that the defendant, with intent to defraud, presented himself as a member of the Nigeria Police Force with force number 358180.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravened Section 79 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The Magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to April 25.
