Nigerian Idol season 5 Registration – On January 14, 2015, Nigerian Idol Season Five was officially launched during a Press Conference held at Mela Rossa.
The event was graced with celebrities, sponsors and past Nigerian Idol winners. The reason behind Nigerian Idol and what it represents was reinforced during the press conference; commitment to providing young Nigerians with exceptional talent in music the opportunity to unearth their potentials and develop into fulfilled music stars.
The three-man panel of celebrity judges for the season were also unveiled. Season Five judges are; Darey Art-Alade, Yinka Davies and Dede Mabiaku.
The stakes are even higher this year as the winner of Nigerian Idol Season Five will get N7.5 million, a Galaxy Tab, a phone, an iPod, a recording deal with Universal Music Company and a brand new SUV. The first runner up gets N1.5 million, a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod while the second runner up gets N1 million, a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod. All other finalists will also receive N100,000, a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod.
The event was a fun and lively affair. Members of the press had the opportunity to get a feel of what it means to audition for Nigerian Idols during the Press Idol singing competition. Press competed “karaoke style” for the opportunity to win $1000 and a Beat by Dre earphones.
In the spirit of winning, our Facebook ‘Ask an Idol’ winner, Ese Philix was also present at the event and got to meet Evelle, Joe Blue and other past Nigerian Idol contestants. Evelle also gave wonderful renditions of her two singles, ‘Kilimanjaro’ and ‘I’m Naughty’. It was indeed a wonderful night. Check video and photo sections of the site for behind-the-scenes footage.
