Tottenham Ends Chelsea Winning Streak

Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea | Tottenham Ends Chelsea Winning Streak

Pochettino and his Tottenham army ends Chelsea’s winning streak. Chelsea who were on the verge of making a Premier League history by winning 14-games at a stretch were stopped in their track. It was a combination of Eriksen and Dele Alli that did the magic. Eriksen delivered two floated assists for Dele Alli to score two headed goals. It was simply not Chelsea’s day as Tottenham Ends Chelsea Winning Streak.

This is the first time Chelsea and Conte were defeated in the league since switching to a 3-4-3 formation. They have beaten 13 teams prior this match. Tottenham were also defeated 2-1 at Stamford Bridge during this run. Also defeated during the 13-match unbeaten run were Manchester City and Manchester United. However, they were not 14-times lucky as Dele Alli had another plan in mind.

Tottenham matched Chelsea’s wingback system as they played a 3-4-2-1 system with Kyle Walker and Danny Rose as wingbacks. They pegged Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso into their own half. Chelsea had the first chance of the game. Hazard should have fired the Blues in front after just five minutes when he beat the offside trap and was played through one-on-one with Hugo Lloris, but he shot wide of the far post.

Though the chances were few and far between, at the stroke of half time, Tottenham broke the duck. Eriksen picked the ball inbetween Chelsea’s defence and midfield. He was allowed the chance to pick out Dele Alli who was kept onside by Victor Moses. Alli obliged the well placed cross and nodded home the first goal of the match. Tottenham went into the break with a 1-0 lead which was truly deserved.

As the second half began, Chelsea was on top. They probed and searched for an equaliser, but any hope of an equaliser was dashed in the 54th minute. Alli made no mistake and doubled Spurs’ lead on 54 minutes when Eriksen picked out another well-timed run into the box, and he headed beyond Thibaut Courtois into the far corner – his third brace in as many matches.  There was no way back for Chelsea into the match.
