The UEFA Best Player 2018 winners have been announced. Real madrid’s Luka Modric has been awarded the UEFA Player of the year award. The Croatian midfielder is a deserving winner. He had a very successful 2017/2018 season. He won the UEFA champions league with Real Madrid and led his country, Croatia to the World Cup Final. Modric was paired against Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah. It is quite obvious that his world cup exploits where we won the best player of the World cup tilted the vote to his favour. And surely, few will begrudge him this award that his performances over the years has warranted.

Modric featured 11 times as Madrid continued their dominance of the Champions League, scoring once and adding a single assist. But it was his conviction in possession and ability to turn defence into attack with just one pass that made him so vital to Los Blancos’ success.
